Volume 1 Introduction
Sawako Kuronuma has had a difficult time fitting in. Is it her long black hair, her hushed manner of speaking, or is it her name's similarity to Sadako, a character from a popular Japanese horror series?
On her first day of high school, Sawako meets the one boy who treats her like a normal girl—Shota Kazehaya. Through his selfless aid, Sawako slowly learns to come out of her shell and even begins to make friends for the first time in her life. However, with a new social life come social pressures.
Rumors begin to circulate about her, her friends, and even the kindhearted Kazehaya. As she grows into her new identity, Sawako must learn to deal with such pressures as well as start to understand the unfamiliar feelings inside of her, especially in regards to the boy who made her new start possible.
Volume 2 Introduction
Kitahoro High’s second term is coming to a close. After dealing with dark rumors and finally confronting her inner emotions, Sawako knows the feelings she holds for Kazehaya are romantic in nature. She has grown more confident thanks to the true friends by her side, but will they be able to remain together even when school is out? Will she be able to tell Kazehaya how she feels?Volume 3 Introduction
After ringing in the new year with her crush at their local shrine, things seem to be going well between Sawako and Kazehaya. When Sawako begins to doubt herself, her rival Kurumi senses it and makes a few comments that push Sawako's confidence back to zero. When you add in Kazehaya's misunderstandings as well as a new boy in class who seems to like Sawako the same way Kazehaya does, it sums up to equal another exciting school year! Sawako Kuronuma
Voiced by: Mamiko Noto
Motto: Do one good deed each day.
A schoolgirl feared by peers as "Sadako," the ghost from a famous Japanese horror movie series. She has come to accept the way she is treated, but her thoughts about life change completely after meeting Kazehaya. Sawako is very pure-hearted and sincere. She likes traditionally feminine things, such as cooking and sewing.

Shota Kazehaya
Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa
Motto: Let the truth guide you.The popular boy at school. He doesn't judge others, so he treats Sawako with the same kindness he shows to everyone else. He gradually comes to realize his feelings toward Sawako have been changing.

Ayane Yano
Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro
Motto: Aim for the Best in Show.
Sawako and Chizuru's friend. Despite her appearance, she is very mature and empathetic—able to easily gauge what someone is thinking. She also enjoys pulling mischievous pranks on her friends and gets a kick out of watching them deal with the situation.

Chizuru Yoshida
Voiced by: Yuko Sanpei
Motto: Eat in moderation.Sawako and Ayane's friend. She has a very feisty personality, sometimes getting more aggressive than her male peers. Her record of consecutively defeating 99 boys in street fights is a source of pride, and she has feelings for the guy who defeated her in the 100th match.

Ryu Sanada
Voiced by: Yuichi Nakamura
Motto: Be a man of action, not words.Kazehaya's close friend. He is also childhood friends with Chizuru and has held strong feelings for her since long ago. He rarely speaks, but each word is very concise. He has trouble remembering names.

Kazuichi Arai (Pin)
Voiced by: Yuki Ono
Motto: I'm always right!A very egotistical PE teacher who rarely acts like a real teacher. Violent scenes within the school seem to excite him, but deep down he cares about his students. Sometimes his words come from experience and they teach life lessons to the kids.

Ume Kurumizawa
Voiced by: Aya Hirano
Motto: Life is scripted.Sawako's rival. She has a long-standing crush on Kazehaya. She looks like a very amicable, doe-eyed, and sweet girl. However, that is no more than a mask. She sometimes resorts to underhanded methods to get what she wants.

Kento Miura
Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano
Motto: I'm a philanthropist. He is Sawako’s classmate, assigned to the same classroom as her at the beginning of their sophomore year. His friends call him “Kent” and his hobbies include “taking care of girls.” Because of that, he has made a lot of female friends. He notices that Sawako likes Kazehaya and tries to give her advice as a gesture of kindness. However, it has the opposite effect and causes relations between Sawako and Kazehaya to become awkward.
Sawako calls him “Master” because he decided to take her under his wing and teach her ways to become more sociable. He’s pretty fond of that nickname, too.

Pedro Martinez
Pin gave the dog this name. Kazehaya adopts this abandoned puppy. Ever since, Pedro has been a member of Kazehaya's family. Sawako and Ryu are also fond of this dog.
